November 19th Newsletter Contents -Many New Features for the TR Series
November, 19 2009
It's been a busy month here at Tranzeo. In addition to Version 3.2 of our WiMAX software, we released a number of other firmware and tools for WiFi that we want to share with you.
Version 5.1 for our EL and EN Access Points was released.
In addition to several bug fixes, it offers a vastly improved boot time and adds 2.4 and 5.8 operation to our EL400 and EL404 series.
On the TR Series, a number of new tools and features were added this month.
Tranzeo Wireless released the Tranzeo Remote Upgrade Management Program (TRUMP), a new tool that allows customers to update their Tranzeo Radios from a single application. TRUMP is a free application that allows users to see at a glance key details about their radios, and to upgrade their entire network with a few mouse clicks. TRUMP automatically determines the correct next firmware level for each radio, and can update units that many revisions behind in firmware.
TRUMP’s release was timed to coincide with the release of Firmware 5.0.2. Firmware 5.0.2 offers a new tabbed interface, and adds several new functions that WISP’s should find useful.
5.0.2 adds the ability to block DHCP offers from a client in bridge mode, meaning that if a user accidently plugs their CPE in the LAN port of their router, they will not be offering address to the rest of your network.
5.0.2 adds the ability to do a speed check between the Radio itself and another location. ipThroughput will allow WISPs to determine if a “slow” internet connection is the link, or the inside the customers network.
5.0.2 adds the ability to do bandwidth shaping in bridge mode, for both CPE and AP mode.
5.0.2 adds 5 and 10 MHz bandwidth for card type 6C
5.0.2 now displays the uptime and link time on the Information Page
As well, we have released Version 2.4 of Victor, the new device discovery tool. This new version now supports even more Tranzeo Radio types, and adds support for Windows7, as well as official support for Linux and OSX. In addition, a number of customer feature requests have been addressed, including column sorting and support for Vista and Windows 7.
Due to the changes in the interface and many new features added, the manuals have been updated, and users are highly recommended to download and read the new manuals for information on the many new features.
The support page for File Downloads has been updated to make finding the current firmware, manuals and tools for your radios easier. You can download these new tools and manuals at http://support.tranzeo.com/files2.php.
